Faces in the Field: Forward Madison's Evan Warwick
Social media admin. Rec Soccer Legend. eCup Finalist. He's done it all.
Today, we're sitting down with Forward Madison FC Director of Digital Media Evan Warwick, as he prepares for his fourth go at an eCup Title!
What is your personal soccer background? How did you come to love the sport?
I was a rec league soccer star back in my day. I went to a high school that was incredibly good at soccer, so I just played recreationally for most of my life. I didn't become a full supporter of soccer until college when choosing Southampton to support. VVD, Sadio Mané, and José Fonte made me fall in love with the sport. I'll be attending my first Southampton match in person (hopefully while they're still in the Prem...) later this year.
Most know you simply as “admin”, but could you expand upon your day-to-day role with the organization?
Life as a USL League One admin is simply the best. In the past, I've been the only admin on FMFC socials, but now we've added two incredibly talented folks who are going to take our social media to the next level. My day-to-day is now more focused on positively affecting the Madison community and beyond through community events and charitable efforts. I love using soccer as a vessel to bring people together and I'm lucky to be able to work on that as my full-time job every day.
Can tell us a little more about the connection between you, the club, & the eCup?
“I started off as Forward Madison’s eCup player in Year One and low and behold, it was one of
the reasons I’m now working full-time for the club. It’s been an absolute blessing to have this tournament as a launching pad for so many players.”
What is your favorite thing about Forward Madison FC?
“Forward Madison FC is unique to the soccer world in general. We use our crazy colors, kits, and persona to positively affect the community that surrounds us. Our charitable efforts are the reason I love working for the club.”
Four years in, what’s been your favorite eCup memory?
“Favorite eCup memory was hoping on the Minneapolis City stream to call the 2021 Final. It was an absolute blast to interact with everyone in the community.”
What are you most looking forward to about this year’s tournament?
“Winning.”
